Human Resources Management Strategy:

Many organizations will recognize that the competence and commitment of their workforce is crucial to their continued success and yet recent research found that only half of the companies in the sample identified someone in charge of personnel. Another survey reported that while directors considered people 'critically important to business success' the majority did not feature any human resource development actions in their top three organizational priorities. Businesses should be able to answer the following questions:-
• Is there a human resources and personnel management strategy to support long term business goals?
• Does the workforce have the capability to cope with organizational, operational and technological changes?
• Is there a succession plan in place and are there appropriate people to promote?
• Do training and development activities support future needs?
• Are the supervisors and managers good people managers?
• What is being done to manage day-to-day personnel problems such as absenteeism, staff turnover, recruitment difficulties or other employee relations issues?
